About the museum
The Zbirka arheoloških nalaza Cickini is located in the village of Sveti Vid-Miholjice near Malinska on the island of Krk, and is one of the detached collections of the Pomorski i povijesni muzej Hrvatskog primorja Rijeka. It is named after the archaeological site in the forest north of the village, which, like the collection itself, can be visited.
Systematic archaeological excavations began in 2002 and are still ongoing. A church with a baptistery and auxiliary rooms from the 5th and 6th centuries has been uncovered, as well as part of a residential-representative complex with a salutatorium (reception hall). Alongside the excavations, repair, conservation and presentation work on the architectural remains has been carried out. The site is presented in the old bakery building, where movable finds are also displayed, above all a large quantity of important stone sculpture.
