About the museum
The Häädemeeste Muuseum presents the history of the Häädemeeste region, including its sailing and fishing traditions and the church, school and society movements. The motto of the museum is “Elu peab olema ja tuli peab põlema” (Life must be lived and the fire must burn).
The farmhouse exhibition shows how country people lived and worked about a hundred years ago, and contains a variety of practical, interesting and decorative farm objects. Guided tours cover, for example, fishing families, the golden age of sailing ships and local cultural history; tours are also organised in English.
