About the museum
The activity of the Järva-Jaani Museum Centre began in 1999 with the opening of a fire-brigade museum. In 2016–2019 the Järva-Jaani Fire Brigade Society launched the project “Järva-Jaani vanatehnika keskuse loomine ja arendamine” (Creating and Developing the Järva-Jaani Old-Technology Centre), partly supported by the European Regional Development Fund. Within this project a shed hall (viilhall) was built and the main building of the centre was restored. The centre opened on 13 November 2019 and in the same year received the recognition “Järvamaa Aasta Tegu 2019” (Järvamaa Deed of the Year) from the newspaper Järva Teataja.
The main building contains several thematic exhibition rooms and a civil-defence room in the cellar; the fire-brigade museum is also in the same house. In the outdoor area of the centre is the old-technology shelter, and nearby are a cinema museum and a local history museum.
