About the museum

The Palamuse O. Luts Parish School Museum was founded in 1987 and is at Köstri allee 3 in the village of Palamuse. The museum presents the story of the Palamuse parish school and the writer Oskar Luts’s connection with Palamuse, where his novel “Kevade” (Spring) is set. The museum consists of the main house and the school building.

The exhibition is in Estonian, Russian and English, and audio guides give information in English, Russian, Finnish, Latvian and Estonian; using the audio guide is free of charge. The museum recommends allowing one and a half hours for a visit. There is a lift in the main house, but access to the school building is difficult for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The museum also offers tours: guided tours of the main house and the school building, and walks around the village of Palamuse, where you can see the parish school and the sexton’s farm, the church and the church manor, Veskijärv lake, the Goldberg garden and the Viru valley.
