About the museum
The visitor centre is the centre of the Hiiumaa recreation area, among the forests of the Kõpu peninsula in Kalana village. A former forester's post, more than 100 years old, lies on the Kõpu–Ristna road, about 8 km from Kõpu towards Ristna. The main building has exhibitions and nature films; the outbuilding is the Merekaubamaja, whose display consists of marine litter collected from the beaches of the home island and donated from around the world.
