About the museum
The Victoria bastion was built at the end of the 17th century to a design by the Swedish statesman and military engineer Erik Dahlberg. It is the most powerful bastion in Narva, with a front wall 16 metres high. The bastion was destroyed in the Great Northern War in 1704 and was renovated after the war. The object is entered in the national register of cultural monuments (no. 13999).
On the tour through the bastion’s passages and the gunpowder cellar, the history of Narva’s defence system and the role of the bastions in war and peace are presented. In summer the second floor, where bats live, is also open; the programme “Narva bastionide elanikud” (“Residents of the Narva Bastions”) is dedicated to them.
