About the museum
The Äänekoski Art Museum opened in October 2005 in the Hammarén house on Klubinmäki hill. The building was completed in 1900 as a residence for a factory director.
The museum's permanent display includes works from the collection of the Toivo Parantainen Museum Foundation, among them works by Hugo Simberg, H. Ahtela, Veikko Vionoja and Simo Hannula. In addition to the collection exhibition, the museum has changing exhibitions, accompanied by artist meetings and an art reading group.
