About the museum
In the southern building of the Alahärmä local heritage museum, visitors can get to know the era of the häjy and Antti Isotalo, who gained wide renown. In the adjoining room there is the furniture and there are the medicine bottles of an old pharmacy, which show how people treated their ailments before industrially made medicines. The museum also has a folk school, on the upper floor of which there are toys, textiles and dishes.
In the northern building there is an old preacher's chair, wooden organ pipes and a wine barrel, and it tells of the 18th-century Härmä church builder Antti Hakola. Other exhibitions show how food was prepared, laundry was washed and tar was made in former times, and what old agricultural tools looked like.
The museum is run by Härmä-Seura ry (Härmä Society), which also looks after the Härmä district court building and the Alahärmä local heritage house in Voltti.
