About the museum
Markin museo is a local museum in the centre of Kortesjärvi, maintained by the Kortesjärvi-Seura (Kortesjärvi Society). Changing exhibitions are held at the museum, and in summer 2026 an exhibition presented the career of the Kortesjärvi amateur runner Johannes Mäenpää.
Across from the museum, in the centre of Kortesjärvi, stands Finland's only surviving ladder house (tikashuone). In the building, erected in 1830, ladders were kept in accordance with fire regulations, in case burning roof shingles had to be quickly removed from the church roof. The Kortesjärvi service point also houses a nature museum maintained by the Kortesjärvi Society.
