About the museum
The Eurajoen koulumuseo opened in 1998 in the former detached house of Ester Tuominen. The museum was founded because there had been many public elementary schools (kansakoulu) in Eurajoki, from which objects and furniture were obtained. In 2020 the museum was moved to the former Irjanne elementary school.
The collection comprises about 1,100 objects, of which about 600 are teaching charts. Almost all the objects come from Eurajoki. The museum interests people of all ages: for children the school museum is new and strange, and parents reminisce there about their own school days. Old-fashioned schooling events have been organised for schoolchildren.
