About the museum
The Järvenpää Art Museum is the art museum of the City of Järvenpää, which has been operating since 1990. Its collections include the most comprehensive collection in Finland of works by Eero Järnefelt (1863–1937) and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt (1863–1945), members of the Tuusula Lake artists' community.
In 2023 a permanent collection exhibition opened at the museum, highlighting the work of both artists in their 160th anniversary year. The works in the exhibition take the viewer to Lake Tuusulanjärvi, to the artists' homes, to the seaside, to Koli and on journeys to St Petersburg and Paris. The public took part in selecting the works by voting.
The art museum is one of the City of Järvenpää's museum sites, together with the artists' homes Ahola, Suviranta and Villa Kokkonen. In June 2026 the city council decided that the art museum project would be advanced with a new-build option.
