About the museum
The Jalasjärvi museum opened in 1954. Its landmark is the harakka windmill of the Rinta-Mäntykoski farm, which stands beside the busy traffic of Kolmostie (Highway 3). The museum area has 29 buildings, and in the sparsely populated area there is also the Ilkka heirs’ estate with its buildings.
The museum is maintained by Jalasjärvi-Seura ry, which also manages memorials both in the museum area and at various places around Jalasjärvi. The buildings of the museum area are visited on guided tours. The area also has the Sotaveteraanien perinnetalo (War Veterans’ heritage farm), which can be booked for a guided tour separately or as part of another museum tour.
The Pelimannitupa (fiddlers’ room) and the Koivikko sauna in the museum area are rented to private individuals, associations and communities.
