About the museum
Luusuansaari was already inhabited in the 18th century, and from there the settlement of the Luusua village area gradually spread to the mainland.
The village museum building Alimmainen was built in 1781, and it is one of Kemijärvi's oldest buildings. The house was lived in until 1947. The Luusua museum committee restored the building through volunteer work in the 1970s. About 400 old objects are catalogued in the museum, the oldest of which are more than 200 years old.
