About the museum
Korpo Hembygdsmuseum is located about 800 metres from Korpo centre in the direction of Hväsby. In the green courtyard there are about ten buildings that were moved here from different parts of Korpo. The museum is run by Korpo Hembygdsförening rf (Korpo Local Heritage Association).
The courtyard shows peasant environments from different periods and an old village shop, and on the museum’s own beach there is a fishing shed. The collections consist of donated everyday objects, work tools, furniture and clothing.
In the hall of the Drängstugan (farmhands’ cottage) are displayed, among other things, the Korpo rya (knotted rug) and one of the oldest folk costumes from Korpo, and the kitchen has a display about a shoemaker.
