About the museum
Pentik-mäki is a centre for culture and shopping in the centre of Posio, next to the Pentik ceramics factory. The buildings, linked to one another by glass corridors, form a complex of some 2,500 square metres with museums, exhibitions, a factory shop and a café.
The Pentik home museum is the birthplace of Pentik. The house has been restored to its appearance in 1973, when the Pentikäinen family began making ceramics. The family lived upstairs, and on the ground floor there were a ceramics studio, a shop and a café. The house was rebuilt in its original form in 1994.
The International Coffee Cup Museum displays some 1,900 cups from over 80 countries, and it opened at its present location in 2004. In addition, the area has the Museum of Rural Memories (Maaseudun muistoja -museo), an exhibition of old ceramics (Vanhan keramiikan näyttely) and an exhibition presenting the leather clothing production of Pentik. The Anu Pentik Gallery opened in 2009, and its façade is decorated with an eight-metre-high ceramic installation.
