About the museum
The Lapuan taidemuseo operates in modern premises renovated in the old loading building of the cartridge factory, in the Kulttuurikeskus Vanha Pauku. The museum's collection contains more than 1,000 works in eight different collections. The foundation of the collections is the donation collection of barrister Pauli Laurila, the most notable part of which is the later non-figurative work of Sam Vanni (1908–1992), a founding member of the Prisma group and an academician.
The museum's exhibitions loosely fall into four themes: Ostrobothnian art, the work of young artists, foreign art, and the work of nationally significant artists. Art education plays a central role in the museum's activities, and guided tours of the exhibitions are available by arrangement.
