About the museum
The Ojalan kotiseutumuseo is the old Ojala farm, which includes two old residential buildings and a cowshed. The main building dates from the late 19th century, and in 1913 it was converted into a shelter for elderly and destitute people. Mrs Augusta Durchman had bequeathed funds to the Pattijoki parish for establishing a shelter, and with these the Ojala farm was bought. From 1957 to 1975 the building housed the Pattijoki municipal poorhouse (kunnalliskoti).
The property was converted into a museum in 1981. The museum displays mainly objects from a farm in the early 20th century, and the collection is supplemented by a collection of coffee cups. The exhibition and office premises in the yard, the so-called handicraft workshop (käsityöverstas), can be rented, for example for meetings. In summer the museum grounds host Pattijoki Day.
