About the museum
The Olkijoki armistice was signed at the Lassila coaching inn (kievari) on 19 November 1808. The agreement was signed by the Swedish general Carl Johan Adlercreutz and the Russian general Nikolai Kamenski. The armistice began a ceasefire in the Finnish War, which officially ended with the Treaty of Hamina on 17 September 1809.
In 1918 most of the main building of Lassila was demolished, and it was decided to set up a museum in the part that remained. The rooms in which the agreement was signed were preserved as a memorial. The Rauhanpirtti (Peace Cottage) was opened in 1937.
The Rauhanpirtti is located in the yard of the Olkijoki school and is looked after by the Raahe Museum.
