About the museum
The Perttelin kotiseutumuseo (Pertteli Local Heritage Museum) operates in an old stone loan granary in Kaivola, in the Pertteli church village. The granary was completed in 1863, and the foundation stones of the old mother church of Uskela were used as building material. The Pertteli chapel had the granary built close to the church for its grain shares.
The museum is maintained by the Perttelin Kotiseutuyhdistys (Pertteli Local Heritage Association), founded in 1958, whose aim is to collect, organise and preserve buildings and objects that reflect the history and culture of the area. The museum displays, among other things, woodcarvings that were once in the Pertteli church, and a rich collection of objects assembled in Pertteli.
The association also runs the Pellonpää farm museum in Vihmalo, which tells of the former peasant culture.
