About the museum
Near central Pori stand four residential buildings built before 1907, together with an outbuilding. Two of the buildings house Rakennuskulttuuritalo Toivo, which takes its name from the Toivo fruit juice factory that operated in the house between the wars.
The repair exhibition in Toivo’s old buildings leaves visible the repair phases of a log building in the rooms, showing repair methods, materials and interiors from the 1800s to the 1950s. Toivo advises owners of old houses on restoring their homes so that the good old structure is preserved. The house also has a small shop selling repair supplies for old buildings.
In the south gable of the Korsman House you can take a journey back in time to the imagined home of the Korsman family, a Pori family with two children, in the 1950s. In the flat of two rooms and a kitchen you may touch every object. In the north gable of the Korsman House, a new exhibition that changes every year opens at the start of the summer season.
