About the museum
The museum yard of the Riistavesi local heritage museum is maintained by Riistavesi-Seura ry, which also organises events in the area. The yard has several buildings, one of which is original, and the others have been moved from elsewhere in the area or from Kaavi.
The exhibitions present the rural life and history of North-East Savo with hundreds of objects, from small bird traps to large threshing machines. The focus of the collection is the toil and effort involved in producing everyday bread, and it also depicts the farming tools and living environment of the 1970s.
