About the museum
The idea of a museum was born when the Sarfsalö village house was founded in 1992. Activities did not start immediately, but over time the woodshed and the sauna belonging to it, next to the old school, were renovated for the exhibition.
In the larger room there is a permanent exhibition on the island’s livelihoods: fishing, farming and transport. The museum also has old benches from Härkäpää school and other material that has survived from the closed school. Among the objects donated to the museum are a hand quern, a shoemaker’s tools, carts and farm implements used in Sarfsalö. The museum is closed during the winter.
