About the museum
The Skarpnåtö local heritage farm in Hammarland is one of Åland's oldest and best-preserved farms and dates back to the early 18th century. Old objects from the farm remain in the main farmhouse and the other buildings.
The setting has been used as a filming location. Parts of the drama film Stormskärs Maja (2023) were shot on the farm, and earlier films such as Stormskärs Maja (1976) and Iris (2011) were also filmed in the farmyard.
Visitors can stroll around the farm at their own pace and look in through the gates to the buildings, or take part in a guided tour of about one hour. A new space has been opened for display. For sale are sheepskins, rag rugs and books with a local connection.
