About the museum
The museum is housed in an old Flemish-style farmstead that was once used as a manor estate. The grounds cover about 1,800 square meters; around a paved inner courtyard stand the residential house built in 1730, the stable buildings and a barn. The museum is operated by the Förderverein (friends' association) Bauernmuseum Zahna e. V.
In the front part of the residential house, the original apartment of a Fläming farmer from the 1920s can be seen; in the rear part, a local heritage room presents documents and objects on the history of the town of Zahna. In the stables stands a large tractor collection with Lanz Bulldog tractors and vehicles of GDR production, which the members painstakingly restored and which are in part still in working order.
Further exhibition areas cover agricultural technology from wooden implements to machines, grain technology in the barn, from sickle and flail to the combine harvester, and a forge.
