About the museum
The foundation for the Heimatmuseum Neckargerach was laid by a local heritage exhibition on May 1, 1978, in the Bürgersaal (citizens' hall). Because of its great success, the museum opened on April 26, 1983. It was later expanded, and from 1994 to 1996 the rooms were renovated and the entire museum was redesigned.
The permanent display is divided into three main areas: agriculture, crafts and shipping, and household and living. The last shows furnished rooms such as a living room, a sleeping chamber, and a kitchen. To keep the museum appealing, individual objects or themes are rotated at intervals. The museum is run by the Heimat- und Fremdenverkehrsverein Neckargerach (local heritage and tourism association).
