About the museum
It began with a private collection: during volunteer field walks on fields belonging to the Reintke family in Unterwinden, stone tools, shards and other everyday remains came to light over the years, and the district archaeology office and the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments dated them to the Neolithic. In early 2025 the municipality of Aham provided two rooms and a corridor, together around 90 square metres, rent-free on the upper floor of its former VR bank building on Hauptstraße for a municipal museum.
The museum is run jointly by the collector Aniko Reintke and the Treffpunkt e. V. Aham, an association founded in 2003 that offers activities for children, families and seniors. The district archaeologist of the district of Landshut provided expert support for the set-up. After painting work, lighting design and the installation of the display cases in spring 2025, the Museumstreffpunkt was officially opened on September 12, 2025. In the long term the collection is to pass into the ownership of the municipality.
On display are grinding stones, flint tools, adzes, arrowheads and pottery of the first farmers in the region, supplemented by small modern-era finds such as buttons, devotional objects and household items. At hands-on stations visitors can touch objects, grind grain and listen. The name says it all: the rooms also serve as a meeting place – for the storytelling series “Gschicht und Gschicht’n” with eyewitnesses and talks, for workshops on Stone Age crafts, holiday programmes and joint field walks. The Museumstreffpunkt belongs to the network “Drei Täler – 7000 Jahre” of the archaeological and historical museums in the district of Landshut.
