About the museum
The museum is the centerpiece of the Heimatverein der Schefflenztal-Sammlungen (Schefflenz Valley Collections local heritage association), founded in 1977, which works on a self-governing basis. Members restore, catalog and look after the exhibits on a voluntary basis.
In the rooms of a half-timbered house dating from 1797 in Unterschefflenz, life and work around the year 1900 are brought vividly to life. Only objects from the Schefflenz valley are shown, drawn from all levels of village society. In this way the collection conveys an impression of everyday village life across two centuries. The museum has been honored with the Heimatpreis (regional heritage award).
