Serpentinstein- und Heimatmuseum Zöblitz

Local history museum in Zöblitz with a working serpentine-stone turning workshop from 1889, town history and regional early history.

Opening hoursAdmission €3

About the museum

The museum is devoted to serpentine stone, which has shaped Zöblitz for centuries. It is housed in the town's former mining office and later district court, directly next to the tourist information office and the church.

The centerpiece is a turning workshop from 1889. It shows how the stone was processed with the simplest machines: all the machines are still in working order and are driven by a leather-belt drive shaft. Numerous turned artworks made of serpentine stone are on display.

The display is supplemented by exhibits on regional early history, the history of the town of Zöblitz and historic crafts. Archaeological finds from Nidberg Castle are also part of the exhibition.
