Archaeological Museum of Poros

About the museum

The museum building was erected in the 1960s on the site where the residence of Prime Minister Alexandros Koryzis stood, on a plot donated by the Koryzis family. It is located on Koryzi Square, a five-minute walk from the port of Poros.

The collection includes finds from the wider area of Troizinia and Ermionida, from the Early Helladic to the Byzantine period. Particularly important are the exhibits of the Mycenaean period from tholos and chamber tombs, from sanctuaries in the area and from the islet of Modi.

The collection also includes finds from the excavations of the French School at Athens in Troizen, such as grave stelae, ancient inscriptions and Geometric vessels, as well as finds from the sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalaureia.

Permanent exhibition

• Μόνιμη έκθεση του Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου Πόρου – The exhibition presents finds from Troizinia and Ermionida, from the Early Helladic to the Byzantine period, with emphasis on the Mycenaean exhibits.
