About the museum
Dimini is one of the most characteristic Neolithic settlements of Europe. Its high walls, which survive to this day, form six concentric circles, which in pairs embrace the entire hill. The dwellings were arranged around a central courtyard or in the space between the pairs of enclosures, and had a shared courtyard.
The area was systematically excavated from 1886 to 2011, until the discovery of two imposing Mycenaean tholos tombs, the “Toumba” and the “Lamiospito”, completed this long effort.
