About the museum
The Museum of Replicas of Cycladic Art was founded with the sponsorship of Giannis and Eleni Vatis and is housed in the Cultural Centre of Ermoupoli, in an imposing two-storey neoclassical building designed in 1862 by the architect Pietro Sampo, in the centre of the town.
The exhibition includes replicas of the exhibits kept in the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens. The aim of the foundation is to familiarise the public with Cycladic culture, which flourished in the 3rd millennium BC and whose characteristic minimalist figurines are regarded as a landmark of artistic expression. The museum organises educational programmes of painting, play and creation, as well as guided tours for young and old.
