About the museum
The Laografiko Mouseio Apeiranthou was founded in 1986 on the initiative of Manolis Glezos. It is housed on the central square of the village, the “Platsa”, and belongs to the municipal museums of the Municipality of Naxos and Lesser Cyclades.
The collection numbers more than 1,200 objects of folk art, almost all of which come from donations by the village’s residents. Tools for farming, threshing and bread-making, household furniture and utensils, traditional musical instruments, traditional costumes and woven textiles are on display. On site there is a small shop, where ceramics, books, paintings and recordings of traditional music by local artists are sold to support the museum.
