About the museum
The museum is housed in the former primary school building of Old Mikro Chorio. The building was constructed in 1934 to a plan of the Ministry of Education, with the personal labour of the residents and local materials.
The aim of the museum is to preserve and pass on the historical heritage of the village. All the exhibits come from donations by the people of Mikro Chorio and are presented in five rooms in chronological and thematic order. They relate to the administrative and socio-economic framework of the 19th and 20th centuries, to public works, to life in the village and abroad, and to the participation of residents in the struggles from the Greek War of Independence (1821) to World War II and the National Resistance.
Of special value are the written personal testimonies of the residents. The museum has a multi-purpose hall with video screenings, a library and a shop.
