About the museum

NOESIS has its roots in the Thessaloniki Technical Museum, founded in 1978 as a non-profit association with the aim of bringing the public closer to the natural sciences and the development of technology. The association was initially housed in premises made available by one of its members, and from 1989 to 2004 in a 2,000 m² building of ETBA in the Sindos industrial area.

The NOESIS Science Centre and Technology Museum foundation was subsequently established. It moved its activities to Thermi, to the 6th kilometre of the Thessaloniki–Thermi road. The Thessaloniki Technical Museum now operates as the Hellenic Museum of Technology.

The NOESIS Technology Museum includes three permanent exhibition areas with a single ticket: Ancient Greek Technology, with replicas based on written sources; the Automobile Exhibition, with 30 historic cars and motorcycles; and the Technopark, with 40 interactive exhibits in 450 m². The centre also has a planetarium, a 3D cosmotheatre and a simulator, as well as spaces for temporary exhibitions and educational workshops.
