About the museum
The Leschi Politismou Florinas was founded in 1980, initially as a film club, and later developed other activities. One of these was the founding of the Folklore Museum in the building of the former Diethnes (International) hotel, an eclectic-style building in the centre of the town.
The exhibits come from the whole prefecture. A special feature of the museum is its beekeeping collection, one of the best in Greece, with old wooden and clay hives and equipment for collecting honey. The halls also contain traditional costumes of Florina, looms and weaving tools, agricultural tools, everyday objects, mainly cooking utensils, and a collection of medicinal and aromatic plants. The exhibition has been renewed, and the museum organises hands-on activities for children.
