About the museum
The Florina Museum of Contemporary Art was founded in 1977 by the Florina Artists’ Association (Stegi Filotechnon Florinas) and is still run by the association. It was housed successively in a building of the Agricultural School, in a private house and in the Gounari building. Since 2006 it has been located in the listed neoclassical building on Tagmatarchou Foulidaki Street, which was purchased by the Ministry of Culture.
The permanent collection comprises about 700 works by Greek and foreign artists, from the early 20th century to the present, including painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography and installations.
In addition to the collection, the museum organises art exhibitions and symposia, concerts and scientific conferences, and it has an art library. Within the same framework, the Art Gallery of Florina Artists operates in a building of the Hellenic Railways (OSE) near the Archaeological Museum.
