About the museum
The Museum of Science and Technology (MET) of the University of Patras was established in 2001 as a laboratory of the School of Sciences. It is concerned with the acquisition, conservation and study – that is, the recording, documentation and evaluation – of the evidence of science and technology. After study, the items are stored or displayed in the museum.
Its aim is to spread science on as many levels as possible, to bring the public into contact with the progress of science, and to support the teaching of the history of science and technology at all levels of education. It also wants to fill the lack of technical museums in Greece, and especially in Western Greece.
The permanent thematic exhibition “Telecommunications in Our Lives” presents the development of telecommunications in three sections: historical development, principles of physics, and old and modern telecommunications. The museum welcomes school groups at all levels with educational activities and guided tours.
