About the museum
The museum is housed in the family home of Konstantinos Christou, known as Kapetan Kottas, in the village of Kotas in Florina. Kottas was among the first figures of the Macedonian Struggle. During the struggle he cooperated with the Greek Macedonian Committee and with the Metropolitan of Kastoria, Germanos Karavangelis. He was arrested by the Ottomans and hanged in 1905.
The Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace arranged for the family house to be converted into a museum, which was inaugurated at the end of 1995 by the then President of the Republic. The museum operates with the help of the Friends of the Macedonian Struggle Museum association and associated women's associations.
