About the museum
The idea for the Naftiko Mouseio Litochorou was given in 1995 by the Association of Retired Seafarers of Litochoro, with the aim of rescuing and preserving the maritime cultural heritage of the town. Between 1995 and 2002 most of the heirlooms of the Litochoro seafarers were collected, and from 2002 to 2004 exhibits of commercial shipping.
In 2004 a non-profit association was founded under the name “Naftiko Mouseio Litochorou”. The museum is registered with the Ministry of Culture as a body of contemporary maritime cultural heritage and is continuously enriched with new items from the seafaring tradition of Litochoro and from commercial shipping.
The collection includes paintings, lithographs, icons and ship models, while the museum's website also presents the work of researchers on the maritime history of Litochoro.

In Litochoro there is a KTEL bus station with services to Katerini and to Thessaloniki via Katerini. Litochoro railway station is an interchange station.
