About the museum

The 1. Kerékpár Múzeum was set up by Olexa Miklós as an individual, civic initiative, from family funds. It is maintained by the Ipoly Túra Egyesület (Ipoly Touring Association), and the museum operates as part of the Ipoly Túrarendszer (Ipoly Touring System). The aim of the collection is for visitors to learn about the development history of the bicycle and at the same time encounter the natural, historical and cultural values of the border Ipoly Valley.

The exhibition traces the history of bicycles from the 1850s to the present. Children’s bicycles, racing bicycles and unicycles can be seen, as well as bicycle bells, motorcycles and retro vehicles. The collection consists largely of donations from fellow collectors and borrowed pieces; in the open area, aircraft models also have a place. The museum also offers a club room, bicycle rental and a repair service.
