About the museum
The Angyalföldi Helytörténeti Gyűjtemény (Angyalföld Local History Collection), operating since 1985, collects and presents the modern and recent local-history documents and objects of the three large districts of District XIII – Angyalföld, Újlipótváros and Vizafogó – as well as of Margitsziget (Margaret Island), which formerly belonged to the district.
The collection holds furniture, everyday objects, toys and costumes, as well as official papers, handwritten studies, a collection of more than 13,000 ephemera items, a photo archive, a numismatic collection and a specialist library. A special sight is the ensemble of old communications equipment, including radios and wire recorders.
The collection’s exhibitions, publications and museum-education activities are recognised nationwide; in the Év Múzeuma (Museum of the Year) competition in 2003 it won the special prize of the ICOM Hungarian National Committee. In 2015 the Radnóti Memorial Room opened, which can be visited freely during the opening hours of the RaM – Radnóti Miklós Művelődési Központ.
