About the museum
The folk house museum is furnished in the house of a well-to-do peasant farmer, built in 1866. The yard, the building and the interior of the home recall the way of life of the people of Békés between 1850 and 1920. The painted furniture and embroidered textiles of the parlour are outstanding products of Hungarian folk art. In the courtyard of the house is the workshop of the local carriage maker Kovács János, and the exhibition also presents the craft of carriage making.
The listed-building reconstruction was designed by the architect Sisa Béla. The exhibition site can only be visited with prior registration; it is an exhibition venue of the Jantyik Mátyás Museum in Békés.
