About the museum
The Hosszúfok No. 1 steam-powered pumping station was built in 1898 beside Mezőberény, on the right bank of the Kettős-Körös, to drain the inland waters that formed there. In 1974, the Körös-vidéki Vízügyi Igazgatóság (Körös Region Water Management Directorate) set up a water management museum in the pumping station, which no longer operates; the museum bears the name of Bodoki Károly.
In the building, the masonry steam boiler and the mechanical units originally installed can still be seen in their original positions. The exhibition hall contains panels presenting the water management past of the Körös region, and the storerooms hold a collection of instruments and documents relating to water management. In the courtyard of the pumping station stand the water engineering devices used earlier.
