About the museum
The Éber family was a defining presence in the cultural history of 20th-century Baja. The house on Jókai utca presents both the bourgeois way of life and the work of the artist family at the same time. Ifj. Éber Sándor, who for decades looked after and arranged the family’s legacy, donated the collection to his home town in 1985 and opened it to the general public.
On the walls are the sketches of the fresco painter id. Éber Sándor, portraits and landscapes of his fellow artists, Éber Anna’s emotional landscapes and portraits, and the pastel pictures of ifj. Éber Sándor, of the Danube, the floodplain forests and the vanished world of the fishermen. Besides the paintings, drawings and sculptures, the house also preserves historical and literary-historical documents.
