About the museum
In the Bükk foothills (Bükkalja), between the Tarna valley and Miskolc, dwellings hewn into easily carved tuff stone are well insulated and waterproof. In Egerszalók there were 33 cave dwellings in the mid-19th century; some of them were still inhabited in the 1960s. The renovated houses belong to the Faluház (village house), which is maintained by the municipality.
