About the museum
The Egri Érseki Palota (Archiepiscopal Palace of Eger) received its Baroque form at the beginning of the 18th century, during the time of Bishop Erdődy Gábor Antal; the listed building of today took shape from the merging of several earlier buildings. Between 2005 and 2012 the palace was examined through building research and a heritage survey, and then renovated.
In the renovated building a tourist visitor centre operates, with exhibitions. Beneath the palace extends a long cellar system, which can be visited with a separate ticket; a combined ticket for both venues is also available.
The visitor centre is located next to the Líceum, the Egri Bazilika (Eger Basilica) and the Főegyházmegyei Könyvtár (Archdiocesan Library); part of the ticket is also included in the Eger-Túra programme.
