About the museum

The Esterházy Nyárilak (Esterházy Summer House) was built at the end of the 1700s in the Tata Angolkert (English Garden), which was developed into the estate centre of the Esterházy family, near the Öreg-tó (Old Lake). It was a modest, classicising building that served not for noble representation but for rest and retreat, as a secondary, more intimate residence beside the large castle of Tata.

After the Second World War it lost its original function and began to fall into decay. Today it is an exhibition venue of the Kuny Domokos Múzeum; its official opening was held on 25 April 2026, and since then it has been open from Tuesday to Sunday.
