About the museum

The Water Management History Collection has been run by the water management directorate in Nyíregyháza since 1962. The material gathered over the decades preserves many memories of the region's water management past.

The exhibition displays original late 19th-century engineering certificates, as well as surveying instruments: angle prisms, theodolites and levelling instruments. The technical plans of the Tisza, the Szamos, the Túr and the Kraszna rivers can be found here; the design documents of the inland water canals are also kept, as are later water management framework plans and flood and inland water protection plans. Biographical material, studies, monographs, maps and diagrams are available to researchers.
