About the museum
The Flippermúzeum was founded by Pálfi Balázs, who has kept his love of pinball from the 1970s. In 2010 he decided to create an institution in which pinball machines take centre stage, for those interested in the history of technology and for beginners alike. In April 2013 it received its licence as a registered museum exhibition venue, and the Pbal Gallery opened to the public on 10 April 2014.
The collection ranges from the 19th-century forerunners of pinball, through the 1947 Humpty Dumpty, the first real pinball machine with flippers, and video game cabinets, to the most popular modern machines (such as Addams Family and Indiana Jones). Each of the roughly 160 machines is entered in the museum’s inventory, and most have an information board. The exhibition is located in the cellar of a city-centre apartment building in District XIII, on Radnóti Miklós utca.
The machines are set to free play, so once the ticket has been bought any working machine can be played without limit. The museum is a registered museum exhibition venue and also hosts pinball tournaments. At the end of 2024 the Game Galaxy event venue opened on Ráday utca; it can only be rented.
