Opening hoursAdmission HUF 3,000

About the museum

The Lenck-villa on the Deák tér is a grand bourgeois, historicist building that has been open to visitors again since 2020. The ethnographic collection of the Soproni Múzeum has found a permanent home here, and in the villa's modern exhibition spaces is the exhibition “Mestermű. Polgári életvilág és kézművesség a 19. század végi Sopronban” (Masterpiece: Bourgeois Lifeworld and Craftsmanship in Late-19th-Century Sopron).

The exhibition presents more than a thousand objects, furnished workshops and films about the crafts. The story is about the villa's residents preparing for their daughter's wedding: on the ground floor, visitors follow the assembly of the trousseau through the workshops; on the basement level, they can act out the servants' duties with task cards, and in the dining room and the winter garden they can learn the etiquette rules of the 19th century. The garden of the villa is also open to visitors.
